about me

Hey! My name is Jason Tobias and I am an NYC-based performer. Raised in Wayne, New Jersey just 45 minutes from New York City, I was incredibly lucky to have been exposed to the magic of live theatre from such an early age.

Aside from performing music, I love to be involved in all aspects of the process. I worked closely with Greg Paladino as his Assistant Music Director on a revised version of Carrie: The Musical brilliantly directed & choreographed by Lainie Sakakura.

While all that information is necessary for the page, so much of my life is lived outside the theatre. When not on stage, you can find me in the kitchen cooking something tasty, in my car blasting music, or outside enjoying some fresh air.

I have served as Vocal Captain on multiple projects, making sure the ensemble can sound as strong and confident as it can be.

Throughout the years, I have also had a blast workshopping several new works: out skirts (Steve Prince), A Trip To The Moon (Ensemble/Captain Nicholl U/S), A Tiny Bit of Sky (Pierre), and Cretaceous! (Granny Bones), an all new original musical fully created by my fellow CAP21 classmates.

My voice has also been lent for original cast recordings created by both composer veterans and up-and-comers alike such as Aaron Gandy, Mark York, and Alex Arlotta (Ruby, Sleeping Beauty, Gotta Start Somewhere).

I love to travel and learn about the world, even the stuff outside our own planet. You will usually hear Family Feud or the Big Bang Theory as background noise at my house, even though the best TV show of all time is PEN15. I eat my Mac & Cheese with a spoon and wet animals freak me out a little bit...

Over the years I have had the privilege to work and train with The Paper Mill Playhouse (Millburn, NJ), New Jersey Performing Arts Center (Newark, NJ), and most recently, CAP21 Conservatory (Manhattan, NYC). I have also had the opportunity to perform in historic venues (54 Below, Greenroom 42, Power Station Berklee NYC) and sing for remarkable artists like Kelli O'Hara and Erika Henningsen. I am a graduate with a B.F.A in Musical Theatre from the CAP21 Conservatory at Molloy University in 2024, which helped channel all my passion into technique.

With my art, I hope to fill audiences with the same wonder and awe that I had. Connection is what motivates me every day to challenge myself to be the best I can be.
